Yesterday was beach day! Chris and Sarah both wanted to get some sun and sand so we headed over to the Gulf coast on Hwy 64. The drive took about 75 minutes. We quickly found the beach south of Bradenton Beach along Hwy 789 which runs south down some islands just off the coast. We parked it for about 2-3 hours. Sarah baked while Chris and I did a little beachcombing. The beach was busy but parking was not a problem.
We grabbed a pizza for lunch and ate it on the beach. Then drove south on 789 to Lido Beach to check out some more sand. The homes along the gulf coast are incredible. We walked around the community of Lido Beach and saw several beach front lots for sale in Realty office windows valued at over $1 million. Then of course the house has to go on the lot! Seems like most of Florida is for sale right now.The sand is a very fine powder and sticks to your feet so there are showers and foot washing stations set up at regular intervals along the beach. Chris and Sarah managed to find a good selection of shells too. Lots of young people on the beach too. Thinking spring break is still on.
We headed back to Wauchula around 4:30 pm. Nice quiet evening at home. We were all a little burnt but not too badly. All in all a great day and a lot of fun too. Fabulous weather all day. Clear blue sky with temps around 78F and a nice breeze near the water.
