We had a quick coffee with Garry before heading back to Ottawa yesterday. Seeing the scenery along Hwy 7 from a motorhome is much different than from a car. I have traveled Hwy 7 many times over the years but usually in a car which of course seats you much closer to the ground. The view from our windshield in the Bounder is great. Lots of lakes and interesting things to see.
We pulled into Perth for a quick pit stop at Tim Hortons. We like that place because there is ample off road bus and RV parking right at the restaurant. Then it was on to Carlton Place to stop in at Luxury Motorhomes. Luxury had installed my tow bar and tail light package on our Saturn. We haven't had a left brake light or signal light on the Saturn, when connected to the RV, since leaving Florida. I thought it was likely a problem with one of the RoadMaster diodes. I had looked at several places along the way back but no one carried those diodes. I purchased a four pack from Luxury and thought it would be a quick task to replace the burnt diode. Well it turns out the problem is in our Bounder somewhere. Leigh put a test light on the electrical connection at the rear of our Bounder and could not find any power to the left signal and brake light at all. We checked all the fuses inside the Bounder as well but could not find any blown fuse nor any particular fuse for controlling the left side rear lights anywhere. The only left/right fuses are for the headlights. So we left Luxury with our problem unresolved and may have to book ourselves in there at a later date for repairs. I kept the 4 pack of diodes just in case.
We pulled onto our street in Orleans just after 2 pm. The house is still standing and looks to be in fine shape. Spring flowers are already in bloom and all that snow over the winter has done wonders for our lawns. Casey was there to greet us and talked excitedly about heading off to Fanshawe college this fall.
The weather was great all day so we decided to tackle the job of unloading everything and cleaning up the motorhome right away. The local by-law officers have shown no mercy in the past for motorhomes parked on streets overnight, so Chris and Casey plugged away at carting things into the house and garage, while I started up the power washer and got to washing the exterior of our Bounder. It was filthy but soon looked like $1 million, Canadian or American....., our buck is back at par again.....yay!!!
Chris gave the inside a once over and then we drove it out to our storage area in Sarsfield. We'll head out there on Monday to vaccuum out the inside, dust, etc before storing it inside at the farm for the next few months.
Casey joined us for supper and we all sat around devouring Domino's pizza, compliments of yours truly. Early to bed last night after a long and busy day.
Turns out one of our neighbours has been transferred. Their house sold in just 4 days for list price, so we are hopeful ours will sell in fairly short order as well.
Time to check out realtors and get the house listed in the coming days while Chris looks into finding a nursing job in Ottawa. Now the real work starts!
