We had a great day downtown today. We were in Byward Market by 9:30 am and then walked over to Parliament Hill to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony at 10 am. This event is always a crowd favourite and is held on the front lawn of the parliament buildings. We also lined up to take the tour of Centre Block and strolled around looking at all the statues on the Hill. Certainly lots to see.
Here's a closeup view of one of sculptures on Parliament Hill. Any guesses as to which one?
This picture is seen on many postcards, so I had to try this one just for us. This one is a reflection of Chris and I in a poster pillar near the Chateau Laurier. Okay, so I like to be creative every now and then.
We had a nice lunch in Byward Market after our tour of the Hill and then strolled around for a bit before heading home.
Just watching the news at home while editing my blog and see there were some serious thunderstorms and lots of rain in the downtown area right around supper time. So much rain that the evening Fortisimo military band presentation has been cancelled.
