We went for a drive along the Ottawa River today and I brought along my new Canon EOS Rebel XSi to take a few pictures. I have taken quite a few over the past few days since buying it. Here are a few selections. The first has been edited and cropped using Adobe Photoshop CS2. I downloaded a trial version of the program just to see what it can do. There is much to learn before I am at all comfortable with using it. The rest are uploaded right from the memory card with no alterations.
We spent some time in Remic Rapids Park looking at the free standing rock sculptures in the Ottawa River. They really are quite amazing. There is no adhesive used in any of them. The sculptures are redone every year. I expect the snow and ice along the river takes its toll on them. One wonders how on earth they can even stand.
This one has a mickey mouse theme to it. Wonder if Disney knows about it or not? It must be incredibly difficult to get the balance set just so. I tried to play with the shutterspeed and slow it down a little so the water would blur in the background but couldn't figure out how to do that quickly enough. Time to reread the instruction manual I suppose.
Of course, as soon as one goes for a walk along the river the ducks and geese are there looking for a handout. I tried to get in as close as possible on this female. I'm amazed at how well the auto focus works. This is my first time using a camera with AF and I am impressed.
I have tried to add other photos to this entry but Blogger does not want to cooperate. I believe there is a limit to the maximum size upload for each entry.
I'd be grateful for your comments on the photographs and will post more later.
