I was chatting with Chris online this afternoon when Henry's called her to say my pre-ordered Canon 5D Mark 2 was in and ready for pick up. That got her scrambling because she has to work tonight and then flies to Orlando first thing tomorrow morning. She is off to Henry's in Orleans as I write this to pick up my new toy. Thank you dear!
I was a little disappointed at Henry's though. I paid their full advertised price up front back in early October at the time of my order. I didn't have to, but I did because I knew I was going to be in Florida by the time it arrived and it just made the transaction that much easier. So they had the full purchase price paid in full on their books for two months. I also figured the devaluation of Cdn$ would eventually cause a price increase. Sure enough, since I paid the Cdn$ has come down in value, forcing Henry's to raise their price by $300. I figured a deal was a deal was a deal....right? Nope....suffice to say Henry's wanted more money when they called to say my camera had arrived. I was not happy about that but convinced the salesman to throw in an extended warranty and a high end UV filter along with the price increase. He also promised me a crazy deal on any new lens I wanted once I get back to Ottawa. Not exactly what I expected but it will have to do I suppose.
So by this time tomorrow afternoon, Chris will be in Orlando with my new 5D Mark 2. Hmmmm....wonder if I'll get to play with it at all while she is here? :) Maybe just a little...... Another question, do I kiss and hug her at the airport, or go right for the camera? ;) What to do, what to do!
