Lake Jackson Sunrise

We had a marvelous day yesterday. Our good friends, Jim and Jane, came over from Wauchula to play a little pickleball in the morning. Then a bunch of us headed over to Homer's Buffet for lunch. Lunch was $10 each, and there was a senior discount available too, for which Chris and I do not yet qualify.....one day though. We came back to the motorhome afterwards and sat out in the sun planning our Alaska trip for next summer. The day passed quickly and before we knew it it was time for the trip back to Wauchula. Time flies when you are with friends.

Chris and I were up early to catch the sunrise over Lake Jackson in Sebring this morning. We went to one of the few public access areas on the lake at Veterans Park. Unfortunately, the view was not great from the park but we persevered and managed to take a few nice photographs. The one above was a 5 sec exposure at f22 using the 24-105 lens that came with my new camera. Taken just before the sun hit the horizon. There are some fabulous boat houses along the water front but all are on private property. I saw a few that would be excellent subject matter for sunrises and plan on asking permission from the owners to photograph them.

We are hoping to check out Lake Placid today which is only about 10 km down the road. I believe Lake Placid was the setting for the movie of the same name with the giant alligator in it.
