Pickleball Problemo in Paradise!

Weather has been a mixed bag here the past few days. We have seen temps into the 80s during the day and down around 50-55F at night. Yesterday was supposed to be sun and hot but turned into cloud with rain, that eventually cleared up around 2 pm.

Pickleball courts were just about dried out by 3 pm, so the gang slowly came out to play. Chris and I were the first ones there. Once everyone saw the Canadians were playing, they had to come out as well.

Pickleball court times are generally divided into beginner (11:30 am - 12:30 pm) and intermediate/advanced (3 pm- 6 pm). The other day, it appears someone took issue with some beginners playing during the later day time slot. This resulted in a sign being posted on the courts yesterday as a reminder of when beginners were to play. Problem was, there wasn't enough beginners to play at 11:30 am and also no one to teach them the rules, so a few showed up at 3 pm instead. Personally, it was no big deal for Chris and I, nor for most of the intermediate, advanced players. Anyway, we were all playing games when someone in a golf cart drove up to the courts, pulled the pickleball sign down, and then drove off in a huff. Neither of us understood what was going on, nor did most of the other players. We continued playing and had a great time. I still don't know what happened and frankly, I don't care either. It's only a game!! If the park wants to designate time slots, then they better be prepared to have an experienced player assigned to the beginner time slot, so beginners can receive basic instruction. If not, better expect beginners to play during the later times. End of story.......? Lets hope so.

Still with pickleball.....On Thursday we had a fabulous spaghetti luncheon in the clubhouse. Harold cooked up a bunch of spaghetti, and I mean a bunch, while others contributed numerous pot luck salads, breads and desserts. About 30 people showed up and we all had a great time. Ate way too much, and we were all moving a little slower than usual when we started playing at 3 pm. Great day! Well done Harold, Barb and others who organized this affair.
