We had a great hike to Luskville Falls today. I tried out my new backpack and carried my photo gear, some snacks and our water bottles without any problem. The falls were pretty well down to a trickle of water which is normal for this time of year. Generally the best water volume occurs in the spring following the snow melt. We hiked to the fire tower which is about 2.5 km from the parking lot and virtually all straight up hill. Total time up and back was just under 3 hours. Pontiac Lookout afforded us the best view of the valley. The views were truly stunning.
Hard to show how steep this climb actually is. Please note the two white arrows painted on the rock face in the photo below. The first one is easy to see. The second one is much smaller and just to Chris's left on the rock face below the tree line. I added the fire tower photograph as proof that we made it all the way to the top. Chris posed for the last photgraph which I think turned out very well. Taken in existing light, no flash, fill or otherwise. We came upon a birch tree in full shade stretched over the path at chest height as we climbed. She simply rested her arms on the tree and I moved in close with my zoom lense. Doesn't get much easier than that.
