Petrie Island

Chris finished her last night shift early Tuesday morning and was quickly off to bed as soon as she got home, so I took a drive out to Petrie Island in the east end of Ottawa to take a few pictures. It was a beautiful morning and the beach area was deserted. I did manage to be there while the city crew was grooming the beach sand with a tractor. The sun created some interesting shadows in the furrows in the sand.














I used the monochrome option in Photoshop Elements to make the furrows in the photo below stand out more. A father and his two young daughters launched their canoe while I was leaving. Hard to see the girls here, but they were in the canoe.....













These last three were taken at the water's edge. The sun backlit all these leaves very well. I think the detail and structure in the leaves was fabulous. What do you think?
